Yilian Cañizares - violin, vocals, Childo Thomas - bass, Inor Sotolongo - percussion
Whatever the weather, Yilian Cañizares will bring a sunny summer to the 2023 festival. She vividly represents the new golden generation of Cuban music, for whom music is as self-evident as water for life. Cañizares has collaborated with many big names of the jazz world and has become a recognized teacher of violin playing and jazz improvisation in her current home country of Switzerland.
“Yilian is one of the most incredible talents of the new generation of Cuban musicians. She is a virtuoso, she is expressive, spontaneous and with a grace that makes her the favorite of all of us.” Chucho Valdés
Charles Pasi - voice, harmonica, guitar, Joseph Champagnon - guitar, Jose Ramon Cabrera - piano, Sébastien Levanneur - bass, Tao Ehrlich - drums
Charismatic singer, guitarist and harmonica master Charles Pasi will perform at the festival for the first time. He was born to an Italian father and a French mother, but lived on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, bringing a deep understanding of the blues from the United States to Europe. Mixing it together with jazz improvisation, Pasi became an artist of the legendary label Blue Note Records in 2015. By collaborating with musicians of various genres, Pasi has created his unique style, which has no boundaries, but there is a lot of artistic creativity, at the same time felt fragility and exciting dynamics. His performance is like a real journey both geographically and emotionally.
“The performance, just with a guitar and vocals, gives you the fullness of a band and of course that harmonica solo…” – Jazz Dergisi
